When the site is called up, the host automatically collects information that your browser transmits and stores it in server log files: the page requested, the date and time, the volume of data transferred, the referrer, the browser type and version, the operating system and the IP address.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interests lie in operating this website free of technical faults and in keeping it secure. The data are not merged with any other source of data, and they are erased as soon as they are no longer necessary for that purpose.
A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place with the host.
This website sets no cookies and embeds no advertising or social media services. For reach measurement we use the service described under section 4, which works without cookies.
We want to know which content gets read and by which routes visitors reach us. For that we use Ahrefs Web Analytics, a service of Ahrefs Pte. Ltd., 16 Raffles Quay, #33-03 Hong Leong Building, Singapore 048581.
When you open a page, your browser loads a script of around two kilobytes from analytics.ahrefs.com. The following are processed: the address requested, the page visited before it (the referrer), details of browser, operating system and device type taken from the user agent, the language set in the browser, and the country and city derived from the IP address.
No cookies are set and no IP addresses are stored. So that repeat visits within one day are not counted twice, the service calculates a check value from the IP address, the browser details and a random value that changes daily. The random value is deleted after 24 hours; after that the check value can no longer be attributed to any person. There is no recognition across several days or across different websites, and no profiles are built.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interests lie in a data-minimising evaluation that lets us improve the content and the technology of this website. Since no information is stored on or read from your device, in our assessment no consent is required under § 25 TDDDG, the German provision implementing Art. 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive; that is why there is no cookie banner.
The processing takes place in Singapore and therefore outside the European Union. The transfer is safeguarded by the standard contractual clauses adopted by the European Commission. A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place with Ahrefs.
You may object to this processing at any time under Art. 21 GDPR. Independently of that, you can prevent the measurement by blocking connections to analytics.ahrefs.com in your browser or with a content blocker.
The fonts used here sit on our own server and are delivered from there. There is no connection to Google Fonts or to any other external provider; your IP address is transmitted to nobody for this purpose.
If you contact us by email, we process the details you give us — name, email address, company name and the content of your message — solely in order to deal with your enquiry.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where the enquiry serves to take steps prior to entering into a contract, and otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. We erase the data as soon as they are no longer necessary and no statutory retention periods stand in the way.
You can download the Excel template without giving any personal data. There is no registration and your email address is not recorded. The download is logged only in the server log files described under section 2.
As a data subject you have, at any time, the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), the right to rectification (Art. 16), the right to erasure (Art. 17), the right to restriction of processing (Art. 18), the right to data portability (Art. 20) and the right to object to the processing (Art. 21 GDPR). An informal message to the email address given above is enough.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the member state of your habitual residence or of the alleged infringement.
